Biografia

Thaís Gomez é autodidata e iniciou sua carreira como artista plástica aos 18 anos.
Gosta de pintar à mão livre, sem regras, como uma forma de expressar sentimentos do cotidiano e levar alegria pelas cores, ao mesmo tempo fortalecendo a cultura popular.
Sua inspiração vem de: cerâmicas, esculturas, dança, música e outras manifestações culturais das mais diversas regiões brasileiras.
A partir de 2010 sua arte sai do plano das telas para estampar roupas finas, moda praia e capas de livros de famosas editoras brasileiras, o que lhe permitiu fazer do seu nome uma marca reconhecida pela singularidade do seu trabalho.
Foi selecionada com 2 obras na 14ª Bienal do Museum of Naive and Marginal Art – Jagodina – Sérvia - EUR. (2009)
Foi convidada e selecionada pelo Comitê Gestor da Olympic Fine Arts 2012 (London). Sua obra “União Olímpica” estará exposta durante os trigésimos jogos olímpicos no museu de Londres de 01 a 07 de Agosto de 2012.
Thais é freqüentemente convidada para realizar exposições no Brasil e no exterior, além de ser uma artista referência no âmbito educacional, onde sua arte é fonte de estudo de professores e alunos.

Thais Gomez is self-taught and she began her career as an artist for 18 years.
Thais likes to paint freehand, without rules, as a way of expressing the feelings of everyday life and bring joy through color, while strengthening the popular culture.
Her inspiration comes from: ceramics, sculpture, dance, music and other cultural events, from different Brazilian regions.
From 2010, the art of Thais Gomez, leaves the plane of the screen to stamp clothes, beachwear and book covers of famous Brazilian publishers. This enabled her to make her name, a brand recognized by the uniqueness of her work.
Thais has also been selected with two works at the 14th Biennial Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art - Jagodina - Serbia - EUR. (2009)
Recently she was invited and selected by the Steering Committee of Olympic Fine Arts 2012 (London). Her masterpiece, "Union Olympic" will be exposed during the thirtieth Olympic Games, the Museum of London 01 to 07 August 2012.
Thais is frequently invited to hold exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, besides being an artist reference in the educational field, where his art is a source of study for teachers and students.

"A cultura brasileira em forma de pintura."
"A arte popular tem as mais variadas manifestações. Elas incluem a cerâmica, o canto e a dança, entre muitas outras. Uma jornada plástica das mais fascinantes é mergulhar nesse mundo do tridimensional e se propor a levá-lo para a tela, onde reina a linguagem dos planos e das cores. Nascida em Diadema, SP, em 1982, a artista plástica Thaís Ibañez percorre essa jornada de maneira muito pessoal. Uma marca registrada é o uso de mulheres com a base arredondada, como ocorre na cerâmica. Esse recurso, associado ao intenso uso da cores quentes, funciona como uma excelente solução para transmitir alegria e espontaneidade. A pintora coloca geralmente em suas imagens algum instrumento de percussão, uma forma de valorizar os ritmos nacionais e de criar, de certa forma, uma identidade visual no seu trabalho. Acima de tudo, predomina sempre a cultura popular como fonte de inspiração e motivação de imagens que remetem ao artesanato. Thaís Ibañez toma a cultura brasileira e lhe dá uma dimensão pictórica. Isso é feito dentro de uma concepção de exaltar aquilo que ela tem de peculiar, como as tonalidades vivas, objetos feitos manualmente e a música, as danças e instrumentos. The folk art has the most diverse expressions. They include pottery, singing and dancing, among many others. One of the most fascinating plastic journeys is to dive into this three-dimensional world and have the purpose to take it to the canvas, where the planes and colors reign together.
Born in Diadema, SP, in 1982, the plastic artist Thaís Ibañez goes through this journey in a very personal way. Her trademark is the use of round-based women, just like in pottery. Such resource, associated with the intense use of warm colors, works as an excellent solution to transmit joy and spontaneity.
The artist quite often draws some percussion musical instrument in her paintings, which is a way to value the national rhythms and somehow create a visual identity in her works. Overall, the folk culture always prevails in her paintings as a source of inspiration and motivation of images that refer to handicraft.
Thaís Ibañez takes the Brazilian culture and gives it a pictorial dimension. This is done with the purpose to exalt its peculiarities, like the live shades, handmade objects and music, dances and instruments. From this dialog, the artist builds her visual imaginary and the country is strengthened, as its genuine culture is honored and preserved.

Thaís Ibañez é uma artista que com bastante firmeza no traço, vem esbanjando talento e criatividade entre os pintores de tendência naïf do Brasil. É dona de uma obra muito bem elaborada, com nuanças de valores cromáticos que com muita espontaneidade, ela deixa extravasar harmoniosamente na feitura das suas telas.
Suas figuras humanas em movimentos são bem alegres com detalhes interessantes que ela minuciosamente decora em suas vestimentas. A presença da música é uma constante em suas telas. Pelo menos um instrumento de percussão a gente percebe em quase todos os seus quadros. A pintora Thaís costuma desenvolver as suas temáticas, resgatando costumes de um povo, através das suas pesquisas, principalmente relacionada à cultura brasileira. Em seu trabalho, Negritude do Campo, por exemplo, equilibrando o cesto de frutas na cabeça, uma mulher caminha em direção ao casario que contrasta com um deslumbrante céu azul; no topo da montanha um Cristo de braços abertos abençoa os habitantes da cidadezinha. Ginga Brazuka é o título de uma das suas obras que tem um orelhão em forma de berimbau, onde se vê dois capoeiristas, mostrando o que é que a Bahia tem. E com essa magia que encanta qualquer um expectador, ela continua desfiando o seu cordão de sonhos coloridos, enquanto nós vamos dando os nossos sinceros aplausos.

Thaís Ibañez an artist with a very firm stroke that has been showing lots of talent and creativity among the painters with a naïf tendency in Brazil. She has elaborate work with chromatic value changes that with plenty spontaneity lets it harmoniously flow freely when creating her canvases.
Her human figures in movement are very cheerful with interesting details that she scrupulously decorates in the wardrobe. The presence of music is constant in her work. We can notice at least a percussion instrument in almost all her paintings. Thaís usually develops her themes rescuing the customs of a people through her research, especially related to Brazilian culture. In her work, Negritude do Campo, for example: balancing the fruit basket on her head, a woman walks toward a row of houses that contrasts with a breathtaking blue sky.
On top of the mountain, a Christ with open arms blesses the inhabitants of the small town. Ginga Brazuka is the title of one of her works that has a phone booth in the shape of a birimbau (a typical Brazilian instrument from Bahia), where we see two capoeira practitioners showing what Bahia has. And with this magic that charms any spectator, she continues challenging her string of colored dreams as we applaud with sincerity.

Thaís viu o Brasil e o Brasil se viu em Thaís.
Thaís é cheia de cores o Brasil também.
Thaís fala de tropicais contemplações e o Brasil esquece as usais complicações.
Thaís tem gosto de arara madura e tem maciezas de terras vermelhas.
O Brasil vê minguarem suas matas atropelarem seus guarás desaparecerem seus tucanos e enfraquecerem seus canteiros. Thaís é força telúrica e arco-íris emprestado do absurdo.
O Brasil se lembra um pouco de quando foi assim e olha para os quadros de Thaís com saudade de si mesmo.
